A Conservative Woman Every Republican Should (Will) Know

This Human Events profile of New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is a must-read. She was elected in 2010 in a state that went nearly 60% for Barack Obama two years earlier.

While many GOP pundits point to rising stars like Florida Senator Marco Rubio, few until now acknowledge that Martinez just may emerge as a national GOP figure-- which would be a huge boon for a party that struggles to connect with Latino voters.

Notwithstanding the fact that she is the governor of a state, always an attractive credential for national office, she governs a state whose population is nearly 50% Hispanic and she is also of Mexican descent... an important fact when one looks at the latest census figures. Not only did Hispanics account for more than 50% of the country's population growth over the past 10 years, but two-thirds of that growth was from Hispanics originally from Mexico.

For those of you in Orange County, you can meet Martinez in person at the OC GOP's Annual Flag Day DInner on June 13. More info here.
